This self-condensate/RME scrubber was installed on the site of a fluidised bed gasification plant in Pfaffenhofen, Germany, for the separation of 90 % of the hydrocarbons generated. For this purpose, a two-stage scrubber was developed, which is operated with water as a final cleaning stage and with RME as a pre-separator for hydrocarbons. The separation of the two orbiting phases water and RME takes place in a settling basin. The used RME, which is loaded with hydrocarbons, is ejected cyclically. The resulting water runs through an additional emulsion separator and is fed to the sewer network.
