Significant partnership: SYNCRAFT joins forces with Carbonfuture, Puro.earth and PYREG for transparent CDR tracking

SYNCRAFT joins forces with Carbonfuture, Puro.earth and PYREG to leverage Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) data as a first step towards scaling CDR technologies. The partnership enables real-time data tracking for carbon removal projects. This will lead to greater accuracy and transparency of the monitoring and verification process, enabling CDR buyers and suppliers to make informed decisions and improve quality assurance.

As the carbon removal industry aims to scale to 10 Gt/year to meet the net zero targets of the Paris Agreement, collaboration between key stakeholders is essential. This partnership is a unique example of how an ecosystem is coming together to create full transparency to build trust in every step of the carbon removal process - from setting standards to issuing credits.

How Puro.earth, Carbonfuture, PYREG and SYNCRAFT work together

  1. Puro.earth, a standardization and certification body, defines the data requirements for the quality assessment of CDR projects.
  2. SYNCRAFT and PYREG collect relevant data in their pyrolysis plants.
  3. Carbonfuture prepares the data so that it can be used for certification and verification and by suppliers.
  4. Puro.earth uses the data for CDR certification.
  5. Carbonfuture sells CDR credits to companies that reduce their CO2.

Industry leaders working together to build a trusted infrastructure for CDR - with a shared vision of sustainable innovation

Hannes Junginger-Gestrich, CEO of Carbonfuture, explains: "This alliance ushers in a new era of transparency and efficiency in carbon removals tracking by using real-time IoT data to make the certification process faster and easier. It strengthens our digital trust infrastructure for sustainable carbon removals by taking the accuracy and efficiency of monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of carbon removals projects to a new level, as well as providing certainty to CDR buyers who purchase carbon removal certificates through our marketplace."

Antti Vihavainen, CEO of Puro.earth, says: "Puro.earth's collaboration with Carbonfuture, PYREG and SYNCRAFT is an important step in taking CDR to a climate-relevant level. By enabling frequent meter readings and automatic data transfer from supplier to verifier, we are moving towards real-time monitoring and reporting, giving suppliers earlier access to CORCs and reducing traditional annual spend. Our commitment starts with setting quality standards so companies can buy with confidence and extends to promoting commoditization and liquidity in the durable CDR markets.

Jörg Dohna, CEO of PYREG, informs: "Carbonfuture sets the highest standards in terms of transparency and thus provides all parties involved with the necessary security throughout the entire process. This is exactly what our market and the carbon future industry need in order to achieve our climate targets as quickly as possible. PYREG is very pleased to participate in this transparency initiative on CDR tracking."

Marcel Huber, CEO of SYNCRAFT, adds: "This partnership is a sign of our shared vision of sustainable innovation. We look forward to working together to set new standards for transparency in carbon capture."
