SYNCRAFT wins COGEN Europe Award 2025
December 4, 2025
Schwaz / Brussels, December 4, 2025 – A special evening for SYNCRAFT: Yesterday, we were honored with the prestigious COGEN Europe Recognition Award 2025 in the "Technology and Innovation" category in Brussels. Our CEO Marcel Huber accepted the award at a festive ceremony in the historic Palais de Charles de Lorraine.
Award ceremony in the heart of Brussels
The festive awards ceremony took place on the evening of December 3, 2025, at the historic Palais de Charles de Lorraine—one of the most significant historic buildings in the heart of Brussels. As part of the COGEN Europe Annual Conference 2025, this year's award winners were honored in front of high-profile guests from politics, business, and research.
"This award is a great honor for our entire team," said Marcel Huber as he accepted the award. "It confirms that we are breaking new ground in energy production with our reverse power plants. We generate both renewable energy and green carbon, which has the potential to transform entire industries. This approach goes far beyond conventional combined heat and power generation."
Award for innovation and technological leadership
With a tradition spanning more than ten years, the COGEN Europe Recognition Awards honor individuals and organizations for their achievements in the development, application, and promotion of combined heat and power technologies in Europe. The winners are selected by a high-caliber international jury of industry experts, policy makers, and representatives of the research community.
The fact that we received an award in the "Technology and Innovation" category shows that our Reversepowerplant is recognized as a groundbreaking solution for the European energy transition. That's because we deliver more than just energy—we combine renewable energy generation, i.e., the cogeneration of electricity and heat, with the production of green carbon. This innovative cogeneration 2.0 brings us one step closer to the defossilization of industry.
SYNCRAFT technology is already in use
We can look back on several successfully completed projects: The Stanglwirt organic and wellness resort in Going near Kitzbühel has been operating the world's first Reversepowerplant a hotel for years. We recently commissioned our Reversepowerplant Waiern, Carinthia. And with the BiokohlenWerk Zwickau, another pioneering plant is currently under construction, which will go into operation in 2027.
"Our Reversepowerplants that renewable energy and the production of high-quality green carbon work perfectly together—this is cogeneration 2.0. Industry needs bio-based, reliable, and regionally available carbon sources. This award confirms how important scalable and economical solutions are for defossilized industrial production."

CEO SYNCRAFTNetworking and exchange at the highest level
In addition to the award ceremony, the event also offered valuable opportunities for exchange and networking. The awards ceremony was followed by a festive gala dinner, where we had the opportunity to talk to leading representatives of the European energy industry, decision-makers from politics and business, and innovators from all over Europe.
These discussions showed that there is enormous interest in climate-positive energy solutions. Many companies and energy suppliers are looking for ways to become not only climate-neutral, but climate-positive. This is exactly where our reverse power plants come in.
