FRAUENFELD / CH

The world's largest Reversepowerplant is located in Switzerland

In 2021, we completed one of the largest wood-fired power plants of its kind in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. The climate-positive Reversepowerplant 4xCW1800x2-1000, is one of the world’s most innovative facilities in the field of wood energy production and carbon removal. Every year, we permanently remove 12,000 tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere there. To bring this mammoth project to fruition, the Zurich-based energy and mobility service providers “Energie 360° AG” and “Schweizer Zucker AG” jointly founded “Bioenergie Frauenfeld AG.”

Our modern fixed-bed reactors, including the four gas engines, have been successfully installed. In addition to electricity and heat, the Reversepowerplant produces valuable green coal, which is then sold to farms or nurseries in the region via various distribution channels. Waste wood, such as sawn timber, storm-damaged wood or pest-infested wood, from the region is used. .
